#NYFW Day 2: Best in Show

Day two at #NYFW did not disappoint! From up-and-coming designers presenting their collections as part of the Academy of Art University to household names such as Rebecca Minkoff and Noon by Noor, there was a lot to take in. A few of my favorite collections from yesterday include:

Rebecca Minkoff
So far I am loving the first look from every designer collection that comes down the runway – Minkoff’s Spring 2014 show was no exception! From soft and flowy florals, texture and peek-a-boo prints, Minkoff knows how to not only combine feminine details with edgier elements, she also knows how to put on a drool-worthy show. Some of my favorite outfits are:

The first look to grace the runway from Minkoff was this beautiful floral gown.

Another head-to-toe look I adored was this floral print jacket and blouse paired with these patterned shorts.

Remember when I referenced that peek-a-boo element, well this black see-through dress with a pop of floral underneath is, in my opinion, the perfect definition of femme fetal; and that necklace is to die for!

More looks from Minkoff included:

Nicole Miller
One of Fashion Week’s favorite designers premiered her collection yesterday as well – Nicole Miller’s Spring 2014 collection simply took my breath away! I love the edginess of her liquid leggings, torn jeans and jackets for day or night. Leather piping on her dresses and the simplicity of the cut make Miller’s collection a must-have for next year! Make sure to add a pile of textured braids to the top of your head to complete the look. Some note-worthy ready-to-wear outfits included:

This printed black and white jacket, tiered blouse and leggings paired with cut-out heels.

This lace jacket, black and cream blouse and leggings. Adding the layered pearl necklace is a definite do – it also appears that metallics will continue to be big next spring, just check out her shoes!

More outfits I adore from Miller’s collection:

Noon by Noor

I think Noon by Noor’s first outfit that came down the runway was one of my absolute favorite looks from the entirety of day two at #NYFW! The bright, poppy print is adorable and the colors are perfect for transitioning from the Spring to Summer season. I’m also glad to see that crop-tops weren’t just a “trend” this year, but will be making a comeback come Spring 2014!

Noon by Noor Spring 2014

Another outfit I am loving is this triple dose of print! Normally, I am not a huge fan of mixing different patterns (mostly because I am not daring enough to actually try it out myself) but something about this assorted combination really made me stop and think about styling in a whole new light.

Noon by Noor Spring 2014

Except for summer, I love the idea of pairing tops, pants, skirts and jackets with anything leather, which is why these cranberry leather shorts are a part of my top three looks from Noon by Noor.

#NYFW Day 1: Best in Show

If you didn’t already know, it’s the first week of fashion month! Every September, designers kick off the start of a month long display of both ready to wear and couture looks. Day one of #NYFW was brilliant! Collections from BCBG Max Azria, Desigual, Marissa Webb, and Tadashi (among many others) led the way with their looks for Spring 2014. Here’s a quick recap of my favorite outfits from #NYFW Day 1:

BCBG Max Azria
The Spring 2014 collection was definitely “Bon Chic.” From easy, breezy nautical looks in pastel hues to graphic florals that pop against a black backdrop, it’s safe to say Azria knows exactly what he’s doing. My top three favorite looks from the runway include:

This floral printed blouse and graphic asymmetrical skirt.

This sear sucker-esque cut-out top and breezy pants.

I guess I’m more of a nautical fan than I originally thought. Here are some more looks from Azria’s Spring 2014 collection:

Desigual
This was the first time I’ve ever experienced a collection from this designer, but I was instantly drawn to the

This colorful collared A-line dress.

A few more looks to love from Desigual 2014 are:

Marissa Webb
Webb’s Spring 2014 collection was truly stunning thanks to the luxurious materials the designer used to create effortless sihlouettes. A warm color palette and a few edgier pieces featuring leather details are definitely my style. My favorites from her collection include:

This delicate lace top paired with a tweed and leather asymmetrical skirt.

Marissa Spring 2014

There is plenty more to love from Webb, including:

Tadashi Shoji
Tadashi Shoji knows that eveningwear is a hot commodity, and his Spring 2014 collection did not dissapoint. It’s easy to see that Shoji was inspired by the 1920’s era (an ode to Gatsby maybe?) due to the loose fit, pastel color palette and embellishments seen throughout the collection. My favorite evening dresses were:

This lavendar printed dress.

Tadashi Soji Spring 2014

This sequin and fringe sparkler.

“Memoires de Paris” by Chloe & Isabel

If there is one place I have been obsessed with my entire life, it’s the City of Lights. Whenever anyone asks me the question, “where would your dream vacation be,” the answer is Paris. I may not be traveling to Europe any time soon, but “Memoires de Paris” fall jewelry collection from Chloe & Isabel can help transport my wardrobe from Americana to Parisian chic.

Le Rococo
There is a lot to love from Chloe & Isabel’s new jewelry line. The intricacy put into each piece, mixed metal designs and jewel tone stones are the perfect pieces to help transition your wardrobe from summer to fall. If you’re looking for a little romance in your life, you will definitely fall in love with the Le Rococo Statement Collar Necklace. Pair the necklace with the gorgeous Le Rococo Post Drop Earrings for date night or the Le Rococo Petite Drop Earrings for day time.

Jardins du Trocadero
If you’re in the mood for something with a little more edge to it, the Jardins du Trocadero pieces may be right up your alley. I would pair the Jardins du Trocadero Statement Bracelet with the Jardins du Trocadero Post Drop Earrings with an LBD. The Jardins du Trocadero Long Pendant and Round Emerald Stud Earrings would look exceptional with a white t-shirt, boyfriend jeans and booties.

Sunset on the Seine
The Sunset on the Seine pieces are my favorite from the overall “Memoires de Paris” collection. I absolutely adore the juxtaposition between femininity and edginess in the Sunset on the Seine Leather Bracelet. I would also love to add the Sunset on the Seine Statement Studs and the Sunset on the Seine Cluster Ring to my personal jewelry collection!

More to love
Other pieces worth noting from Chloe & Isabel’s fall line include the Le Rococo Stackable Rings, Jardins du Trocadero Two-Row Necklace and the Sunset on the Seine Collar Necklace. Two other items that really stood out to me while browsing through the collection include the Filigree + Pearl Stretch Bracelet and Starburst + Seed Pearl Long Pendant.

I am hoping to meet up with a Chloe & Isabel consultant at their new showroom to try on some of these fabulous items! Leave a comment below and let me know what your must-have pieces from “Memoires de Paris” are!

Now and Later: Florals

Many women think florals and fall don’t go well together, but that petal prints are only for spring and summer. The truth is, you can do floral in the fall.

#OOTD Fall Florals
The key to pulling off the look is to pair your floral item with darker colors. For example:

A navy blazer and emerald bowler bag tone down the bright floral pattern on the skirt and the orange shirt I paired with it.

#OOTD For the End of Summer
Since summer isn’t over yet, at least not according to the Chicago weather forecast this week, I would ditch the blazer to keep cool in the heat! Pair the skirt with a bright top and use a wide belt to break up the two pieces.

Even though we took these photos on a cool day a few weeks ago, I would definitely wear this #OOTD this week to keep cool during a walk in the park. Here’s a few more fashion photos from our shoot:

Gold accessories are the perfect accent to this warm weather look. Even though I am definitely not as tan as I would like to be, this particular metal still looks good with my (somewhat pale) skin tone.
