Underwater Fashion: Shark Week 2013

If you’re as fascinated with aquatic life as I am, you’ve most likely been glued to the television this week, entranced by the beauty of the beasts we call sharks! Yes people, it’s #SharkWeek on Discovery Channel!

Every year, the educational channel dedicates the first week in August to the infamous monster that scared millions of people in the hit film, “Jaws.” From reenactments to underwater documentaries, there is no subject matter regarding the various species of sharks that goes unanswered.

Ba dum, Ba dum, Ba dum Ba dum Ba dum …
My love (and albeit fear) of these creatures enticed me to create two looks inspired by the glory that is #SharkWeek. Take a bite out of these gorgeous designer outfits I created on Polyvore. From a marine water dress to shark tooth embellished cuffs, I think these #OOTD will leave you thinking about #SharkWeek long after the Discovery celebration is over:

#OOTD Inspired by Mother Nature: Go Green

I spent a good portion of the day yesterday at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. From tropical green houses to Japanese gardening styles, there was a ton of flora and fauna to take in. As I continued to click away with my camera, the image of the leaf below really stuck with me.

#OOTD Inspired by Mother Nature
The vibrant green tones seen throughout the leaves encouraged me to try color blocking for the first time, which was much easier than I thought it would be. One of my personal fashion goals is to expand the amount of color in my wardrobe, as I tend to stick to black, grey and white. I thought my trip to the gardens would be the perfect opportunity to style and write about a vibrant outfit inspired by Mother Nature!
