Shop Stella & Dot

This past friday I invited my girlfriends and family over for appetizers, drinks and the opportunity to be personally styled by Jennifer Martzolf, from Stella & Dot! I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t love a good piece of jewelry more than myself, so hosting a trunk show was a no brainer.

I met Jennifer back in July while in attendance as a guest blogger at the #SassyCityChicks Chicago event. Jennifer was one of the vendors partaking in the shopping event, and was one of the first tables I stopped by to check out. I immediately fell in love with a few pieces while browsing and talking with Jennifer. I had only heard of Stella & Dot, but had no idea they were a jewelry line, let alone a very well known brand (Katy Perry, Nina Dobrev, Julliana Hough among many others have been photographed wearing the collection).

In preparation for my trunk show, Jennifer told me to make a wish-list for the items I wanted to order using my hostess rewards. Let me tell you, the list is quite long! One of the reasons I feel so attracted to this particular jewelry line over many others is the fact that Stella & Dot has a bit of a rocker edge to a majority of their pieces. Mixed metals are a huge trend this fall – whether you’re in need of stackable bracelets or prefer a statement necklace, you won’t be disappointed in what Stella & Dot has to offer you!

I have decided to leave my trunk show open until this Friday, September 20. I wanted to share my love and passion for this new jewelry line (which 8 out of 10 women have never heard of before) to spread the word. You can browse the Stella & Dot collection online and order 24/7 without having to attend or host a show. However, I would highly recommend inviting your girlfriends over for some wine, cheese and the opportunity to enjoy a private shopping event where everyone can try on these gorgeous pieces of jewelry in person.

My Stella & Dot Wish List
I am obsessing over the items on my wish list as I patiently wait for my trunk show close date. Some of the items I anticipate purchasing in addition to the hostess benefits include:
In addition to some amazing jewelry, Stella & Dot also has some kickass purses, wallets and scarves! My picks include:
If you would like to make a purchase as part of my trunk show, follow the link below (closing date is Friday, Septemeber 20):

#NYFW Day 5, 6, & 7: Best in Show

I’ve been a bit behind regarding the past few days at #NYFW, and now it’s time to get serious as the nine day event is coming to an end. Some of the most coveted designers have shown their collections in the past few days, including CArolina Herrera, Reem Acra, Tory Burch, J. Crew, Vera Wang, Diesel, Jenny Packham, Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, Rachel Zoe, J. Mendel and Betsey Johnson. To offer you a look into every single designer showing at #NYFW during days five, six and seven would be one obnoxiously long post, I’ve decided to feature my top two favorite collections from the past three days. Here it goes:

Day 5 –

Carolina Herrera
If you aren’t aware of what contemporary femininity means, all you need to do is look at Carolina Herrera’s Spring ’14 collection. Herrera has dedicated her career as a designer towards making women feel confident, modern and above all else beautiful and her newest collection is no exception. Although I’d like to bring your attention to the entire collection, these are my favorite pieces from her line:

The color was initially what caught my eye regarding this berry-infused gown. Although I am still undecided about the buckle fixtures around the neck and waist, the color and fluidity of the gown juxtaposed with the geometric embellishments are stunning.

Carolina Herrera Spring 2014

Carolina Herrera Spring 2014

If I ever make it to Paris, this white jacket and dress is what I want to wear while strolling around the Parisian, cobblestone streets. Feminine, sophisticated yet clean and simple are design esthetics that define a timeless piece, which is exactly what this particular outfit is.

Carolina Herrera Spring 2-14

Carolina Herrera Spring 2014

This dress simply takes my breath away. From the emerald color to the asymmetrical overlays down to the T-strap heels, Herrera can do no wrong.

Additional looks that will take you back to Paris circa the 1940s include:

Reem Acra
I’m not sure if it was the red runway, big (i mean very big) hair or the bold patterns that I found to be really inspiring, however I do know that I am completely head-over-heels for Reem Acra’s Spring 2014 collection. If I had to put the collection in my own words, I would say it’s a combination of British punk meets Upper East side, bold yet sophisticated and a must-have for next year’s Spring wardrobe. My top picks from the collection:

Graphic black and white patterns may be tried and true, yet Acra’s antics of mixing prints in a monotone palette feel completely new. I love that the top and skirt mirror one another yet you can mix and match them with solid pieces for a completely different vibe.

Reem Acra Spring 2014

Reem Acra Spring 2014

Although many people would say that revisiting the 70s, 80s and 90s is something that should never, ever, ever be done, I have to disagree. This gold ensemble is a little bit disco, a little bit rock and roll and a whole lot of cool.

Reem Acra Spring 2014

Reem Acra Spring 2014

After purchasing a very citrusy orange dress from BCBG two summers ago, I have not been able to stop obsessing over this bright, cheerful color so it’s no surprise I was instantly attracted to this piece from Acra’s collection. Although I would never dare wear a neckline that deep, I love the slit in the skirt, sleeves and gold belt.

Reem Acra Spring 2014

Other looks worth mentioning from Acra’s Spring ’14 line:

Day 6 –

Badgley Mischka
Badgley Mischka is commonly referred to as the darlings of the Hollywood set due to their glamourous yet wearable evening wear.  Though the designers Mark and James certainly have an eye for creating stunning gowns, it was actually the old-hollywood, 1940s day looks (their hats in particular) that made me look through the collection not once, not twice but three times over! It was extremely difficult to pick three outfits, I was able to narrow it down for you:

The opening look from Badgley Mischka was this trouser and matching crop top paired with a navy sweater and navy and white hat. If this isn’t old hollywood glamour, than I don’t know what is. I’d love to wear this outfit while walking the beaches of St. Tropez … wouldn’t you?

Badgley Mischka Spring 2014

Badgley Mischka Spring 2014

You’ll have to forgive me, but all three of my favorite ready-to-wear looks from Badgley Mischka include the color navy in some shape or form. I’ve come to love and appreciate a pair of silk shorts not only for their comfortable fit, but for the way they move and their versatility. These high-waited, mid-length navy shorts are simply gorgeous. Wear them with the top shown as the weather starts to warm up – mid summer, when temperatures really start to swelter, swap out the white blouse for the polk-a-dot crop top pictured above (same goes for the top and pants for early spring). How do you like that, I’ve given you the option of purchasing four pieces you can mix and match to make four different outfits – now that is definitely getting your money’s worth!

Badgley Mischka Spring 2014

Badgley Mischka Spring 2014

If this navy gown doesn’t sum up Badgley Mischka’s design esthetic and overall branding strategy, I don’t know what else will.

Badgley Mischka Spring 2014

Badgley Mischka Spring 2014

I am completely in love with the rest of these pieces from Badgley Mischka’s Spring 2014 line:

Jenny Packham
To dress yourself and know what works for your body type is one thing, but to understand and be able to design for other women is truly a gift. Designer Jenny Packham used classic silhouettes throughout her spring collection, such as A-line dresses and skirts and sheath gowns to enhance a woman’s figure. The pairing of bold jewel tones with pastel shades and beaded detailing make the collection feel fresh, rather than outdated.

Packham’s opening look included a high-neckline dress with a bow detail that is oh-so-lady-like. The sleeveless, flouncy dress feels extra special thanks to the textured material and ease of the gown as you walk (or twirl) in it.

Jenny Packham Spring 2014

Jenny Packham Spring 2014

Bows were a definite trend throughout Packham’s Spring collection. Although it takes a great deal of confidence to pull off the look, I have no complaints about the foo-foo details as the rest of this peach dress is so well tailored.

Jenny Packham Spring 2014

Jenny Packham Spring 2014

One of my favorite looks from Packham was this bold, lime green blouse and sky-blue skirt; This color combination just screams Spring and Summer, but I think what I love most is the rustic red belt – it’s definitely an unexpected finishing touch that I would have never thought of myself but it works.

Jenny Packham Spring 2014

Additional pieces I fell in love with are:

Day 7 –

Rachel Zoe
As one of the most sought after stylists among the Hollywood elite, it’s no surprise that Rachel Zoe has taken to designing her own line of clothing, or that her designs are freaking awesome! Somehow, Zoe manages to channel her bohemian/rocker flair into the most structured pieces by introducing embellishments such as gold studs, leather and lace. The best pieces from Zoe’s Spring ’14 collection (in my opinion) range from chic sophistication to bad-ass rocker chick:

Black, on black on black is always a do, but knowing how to style a monotone look can be tricky, but is a no-brainer for Zoe. P.S. Love the sandals!

Rachel Zoe Spring 2014

White trousers and a gold studded crop top are the perfect color combination for late Spring, early Summer 2014. I would definitely wear this outfit to an all-white party!

The effortless silhouette of this pastel blue sweater dress could be worn during the day as a beach coverup or for a night out on the town.

Rachel Zoe Spring 2014

Additional looks to love from Zoe’s Spring ’14 collection include:

J. Mendel
If you’re not familiar with the story behind the house of Mendel, a quick synopsis would be that the designer is the fifth generation of the Mendel family to design for the atelier. Originally, Mendel designed for Russian aristocracy, then moved to France after the Russian Revolution. From there, Mendel made his way to NYC, where the designer has continued to be one of the leaders when it comes to American ready-to-wear fashion. A few pieces you’ll want to add to your Spring ’14 wardrobe are:

Bright colors and floral prints, like this sheath, long sleeve dress featuring a flirty hemline.

J. Mendel Spring 2014

J. Mendel Spring 2014

Separates in a single color, featuring lots of texture, such as this grey vest, blouse and printed shorts.

#NYFW Day 4: Best in Show

There were quite a few big names that debuted their Spring ’14 collections today. From sportswear god, DKNY to lady-like ensembles by Lela Rose and the lovely #DVF, it seems as though each and every waking minute of next years attire is only getting better by the minute! Some of my favorite collections from day 4 included:

Vivienne Tam
Until reviewing today’s collections, I had never come across a piece by Vivienne Tam. Now that I know who she is, and what her designs are about, I can now call myself a true fan!The first look from Tam’s collection was a coral gown featuring a one-shoulder top … let me tell you that anything coral (or turquoise for that matter) will always be a winner in my book! The rest of her Spring ’14 collection included paintbrush prints, florals and crisp white fabrics that were both structured yet free flowing (yes that’s possible). My top three picks include:

This A-line geometric printed dress, which appears to also mimic that of a paintbrush design. Whether you take a mathematical or artistic approach, the ready-to-wear dress is a winner. P.S. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love a dress with pockets!

Vivienne Tam Spring 2014

Vivienne Tam Spring 2014

Remember how I mentioned Tam knows a thing or two about juxtaposing structure and fluidity, well this white crop top blouse and skirt are what I was referring to … the outfit says it all, plus the black and white floral print is an added bonus.

Vivienne Tam Spring 2014

Vivienne Tam Spring 2014

My third pick from Tam is this cool toned short-sleeve dress. I’m seeing a pattern over these last few posts as I continue to admire the way the designers are styling dresses with a collared shirt underneath with bold florals- I guess I’ll be adding both to my wardrobe next year!

Vivienne Tam Spring 2014

Additional looks to love from Tam include:

Tracy Reese
I’ve heard of Reese designs before, but have never really taken the time to investigate the designer until today. I have to say that I was quite smitten with the Spring collection due to the designer’s ability to go back and forth between uber feminine looks and androgynous styling. Reese’s best in show designs (in my opinion) are:

This black and white mixed print ensemble. I’ve stated before that I am afraid of mixing different styled prints, however, the two-tone look seems to flow nicely from head (cue the top hat) to toe. Is it just me, or does this outfit have a circus ringleader vibe to it?

Tracey Reese Spring 2014

Tracy Reese Spring 2014

My second favorite ready-to-wear ensemble was this white poppy floral dress. I’m a sucker for V-necks (since I feel it helps enhance what little I have to work with up top) so this dress would work really well on my body type. The muted mauve undertone and sporadic pop of green are a definite do for Spring awakening.

Tracey Reese Spring 2014

Tracy Reese Spring 2014

Forgive me for including yet another outfit that was styled with a top hat, but I just couldn’t help myself! I really haven’t posted too many looks that included pants from #NYFW Spring 2014. All hats aside, I thought the details of the mesh paneled sweater and eyelet pants were quite interesting.

Tracey Reese Spring 2014

Tracy Reese Spring 2014

Other outfits from Reese’s ready-to-wear Spring ’14 collection include:

Lela Rose
I think the Spring ’14 collection from Lela Rose is the first thus far to incorporate pastels into the mix. This spring, shades of mint, pink and lavender were a huge hit and it looks like next spring we will be seeing a lot more soft shades as well, including shades of blue, grey and orange. My top three picks from Rose are:

This high-low sleeveless blouse and abstract print skirt – who knew you could do blue and orange without looking like a Chicago Bears sports fan?

Lela Rose Spring 2014

Lela Rose Spring 2014

This nude coat dress featuring a black belt and large lace floral appliques.

Lela Rose Spring 2014

Lela Rose Spring 2014

This geometric top and skrit really caught my eye while looking through the collection. I think the cut, pattern and style is very refreshing and unique, which is probably why I can’t stop thinking about it – who doesn’t love a good two piece outfit you can wear together or as separates!

Lela Rose Spring 2014

Lela Rose Spring 2014

More looks to love from Lela Rose include:

Diane Von Furstenberg
The initials DVF can make any woman giddy with delight, and Diane Von Furstenberg’s Spring ’14 collection is no exception! It’s plain and simple, this woman knows how to design, dress and style other women to give them exactly what they want i.e. a great outfit, timeless silhouettes and figure flattering attire that not only looks good on, but highlights a woman’s best assets. Splurge worthy items from DVF are:

This metallic gold and black dress. Wear it to dinner, a wedding then bring it out once more for New Years Eve (paired with black tights and booties). Now that I’ve given you three scenarios in which you can wear this dress, you should definitely add it to your closet come Spring – P.S. Naomi Campbell looks fierce!

DVF Spring 2014

DVF Spring 2014

A crop top and A-line skirt in a muted palette sounds kind of boring, but textured material and some killer sandals make the entire outfit a show stopper.

DVF Spring 2014

DVF Spring 2014

White on white is always a do, especially come Spring and Summer. Show off your sexy shoulders and decolletage with a deep-v neckline that draws the eye to your waist. Tie your belt for an effortless effect and finish the look with white trousers and multicolored sandals for an all white party look on the yacht (or in the Hamptons).

In addition to these standout pieces from DVF, I would also suggest purchasing these stellar outfits from her Spring ’14 collection as well:

#NYFW Day 3: Best in Show

Fashion never sleeps, and neither can I! The third day at #NYFW included black and white prints with leather details, bright kaleidoscope prints and warm shades of pink and orange. Some of the best in show from day three are:

Herve Leger
Max Azria’s sister collection, Herve Leger, was made famous thanks to the designer’s standout bandage dresses. Although there were only a few body con dresses in sight for the Spring 2014 collection, there was plenty of knockout looks, such as:

This black and white tank featuring a mirrored print and high-low hemline. It’s hard to tell from the photo if this is in fact a dress, or long top and shorts…either way I’d love to have it in my closet.

This cream bandage dress featuring cutout panels and a leather cutout corset.

Herve Leger Spring 2014

Herve Leger Spring 2014

This black, long sleeve crop top and matching skirt. I think this would be the perfect outfit to wear once the weather starts to warm up – add a long cream coat over to stay warm while the rest of the earth continues to defrost.

Herve Leger Spring 2014

Take a look at a few more outfits from Herve Leger’s Spring 2014 collection:

Mara Hoffman
It had to happen – Up until now, I’ve been loving the first look from every designer but I have to say I was not smitten with Hoffman’s first look. However, I am completely in love with the majority of her Spring 2014 ready-to-wear looks. From colorful stitching details, bright bold patterns and pieces you can mix and match, these are my top three picks:

What could be more easy breezy than a white flowy dress for Spring and Summer … the answer is nothing! The bright colors on the top of the gown, plus the unusual placement and movement of the skirt make really caught my eye, which is why it’s my No. 1 pick from Hoffman!

Mara Hoffman Spring 2014

Mara Hoffman Spring 2014

Cobalt blue and crisp white always make me think of the homes in Greece – This white vest and bright blue pants would look spectacular while wandering the Greek Islands, or walking the streets of Manhattan. The wrap belt adds an unexpectedness to the overall look.

Mara Hoffman Spring 2014

Mara Hoffman Spring 2014

I adore this colorful printed dress. From the Navajo/kaleidoscope print to the color combination and length of the gown, you simply can’t go wrong with this look for Spring 2014.

Additional looks to love from Hoffman include:

Monique Lhuillier
I have to say that Lhuillier’s collection was the most “girly” from day three at #NYFW. The cut of her dresses, beaded and applique details and punchy hues are very inspiring and are the perfect way to brighten up your wardrobe next spring. My top picks are:

This pink gown, featuring lace sleeves and what appears to be a cape overlay. I’ve never seen this type of sihlouette before, which is why the dress stood out from the rest of her outfits and instantly became my No. 1 pick.

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2014

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2014

This floral ensemble featuring pink, orange and coral flower appliques. The see-through overlay at the neckline and length of the gown + those orange heels = the perfect outfit for a spring wedding.

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2014

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2014

I’m thinking this long sleeve sparkly number will be a big hit for brides-to-be come Spring 2014! Wear it to your bridal shower with a pair of metallic flats or out on the town for your bachelorette party with a pair of stiletto sandals, or both!

#NYFW Day 2: Best in Show

Day two at #NYFW did not disappoint! From up-and-coming designers presenting their collections as part of the Academy of Art University to household names such as Rebecca Minkoff and Noon by Noor, there was a lot to take in. A few of my favorite collections from yesterday include:

Rebecca Minkoff
So far I am loving the first look from every designer collection that comes down the runway – Minkoff’s Spring 2014 show was no exception! From soft and flowy florals, texture and peek-a-boo prints, Minkoff knows how to not only combine feminine details with edgier elements, she also knows how to put on a drool-worthy show. Some of my favorite outfits are:

The first look to grace the runway from Minkoff was this beautiful floral gown.

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2014

Another head-to-toe look I adored was this floral print jacket and blouse paired with these patterned shorts.

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2014

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2014

Remember when I referenced that peek-a-boo element, well this black see-through dress with a pop of floral underneath is, in my opinion, the perfect definition of femme fetal; and that necklace is to die for!

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2014

More looks from Minkoff included:

Nicole Miller
One of Fashion Week’s favorite designers premiered her collection yesterday as well – Nicole Miller’s Spring 2014 collection simply took my breath away! I love the edginess of her liquid leggings, torn jeans and jackets for day or night. Leather piping on her dresses and the simplicity of the cut make Miller’s collection a must-have for next year! Make sure to add a pile of textured braids to the top of your head to complete the look. Some note-worthy ready-to-wear outfits included:

This printed black and white jacket, tiered blouse and leggings paired with cut-out heels.

This geometric print, strapless dress, featuring black piping to further enhance your womanly curves.

Nicole Miller Spring 2014

This lace jacket, black and cream blouse and leggings. Adding the layered pearl necklace is a definite do – it also appears that metallics will continue to be big next spring, just check out her shoes!

Nicole Miller Spring 2014

More outfits I adore from Miller’s collection:

Noon by Noor

I think Noon by Noor’s first outfit that came down the runway was one of my absolute favorite looks from the entirety of day two at #NYFW! The bright, poppy print is adorable and the colors are perfect for transitioning from the Spring to Summer season. I’m also glad to see that crop-tops weren’t just a “trend” this year, but will be making a comeback come Spring 2014!

Noon by Noor Spring 2014

Noon by Noor Spring 2014

Another outfit I am loving is this triple dose of print! Normally, I am not a huge fan of mixing different patterns (mostly because I am not daring enough to actually try it out myself) but something about this assorted combination really made me stop and think about styling in a whole new light.

Noon by Noor Spring 2014

Noon by Noor Spring 2014

Except for summer, I love the idea of pairing tops, pants, skirts and jackets with anything leather, which is why these cranberry leather shorts are a part of my top three looks from Noon by Noor.
